Dr. Paulose P. Thomas
 

Dr. Paulose P. Thomas is Professor of Nephrology, who was trained at the prestigious Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore, India and Westmead and Concord Hospitals in Sydney, Australia. He was heading one of the Nephrology Units at the Christian Medical College (CMC) Hospital, Vellore in India prior to his current appointment as Nephrologist in Dubai, UAE. 

 

The Nephrology centre at the CMC Hospital has the reputation of having performed the first hemodialysis in India and instrumental in performing the first successful renal transplantation in India. The popular Indian news magazine “The Week” after a nation wide survey in 2003 has reported that the Nephrology/Urology departments at the Christian Medical College Hospital are the best in India. The unit also probably performs the largest number of renal biopsies in any single centre.

     

Dr. Thomas is also a researcher, having published over 50 articles in medical journals. He has contributed editorials to journals on kidney diseases. He has presented several papers in national and international conferences in Europe and USA. He is a member of International Society of Nephrology and European Dialysis and Transplantation Association. He is also a member of advisory board of nephrology journals. He has been involved in international trials involving renal transplantation. He has extensive experience looking after patients with kidney diseases, patients on peritoneal and hemodialysis and kidney transplant patients.  

 

In addition to being a researcher and practitioner of Nephrology, he is also a teacher to a large number of Nephrologists working around the world.
